This photograph shows a map of military movements during the Battle Battle of the Ardennes and Rhine at the American Luxembourg cemetery and memorial in Hamm on May 28, 2024. US General George Smith Patton Jr. (November 11, 1885 – December 21, 1945) commanded the Seventh Army in the Mediterranean Theatre of World War II and the Third Army in France and Germany after the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944. In accordance with his wish "to be buried with (his) men", Patton was buried alongside the other soldiers of the 3rd Army. As his grave, placed with the other graves, was causing damage due to the number of visitors, his grave was moved to face the other graves. The cemetery has 5,070 graves.
