Guatemalan President Bernardo Arevalo (C) waves next to Vice-President Karin Herrera (C, right) while they head with Defence Minister Henry Saenz (L) and Interior Minister Francisco Jimenez (next to Herrera) to the Congress to present legal reforms that would allow the removal of the country's top prosecutor, in Guatemala City on May 6, 2024. Arevalo headed to Congress to present legal reforms that would allow the removal of Attorney general Consuelo Porras, who he accuses of plotting to oust him. Porras, who is under US and EU sanctions for corruption, was appointed by Arevalo's predecessor and led efforts to have the newcomer's election victory overturned. Her mandate runs until May 2026, and Arevalo cannot legally fire her without showing just cause under the current law. (Photo by Edwin BERCIAN / AFP)

Participants display a large Israeli flag with the Star of David during the annual March of The Living to honour the victims of the Holocaust at the Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau on the site of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Oswiecim, Poland on May 6, 2024. Released Gaza hostages joined Holocaust survivors on May 6 for an annual march in southern Poland to commemorate victims of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. Every year, Jews and non-Jews from around the world take part in the event at the site of the former death camp, which was built by Nazi Germany after it invaded Poland. One million European Jews died at the camp between 1940 and 1945 along with around 80,000 non-Jewish Poles, 25,000 Roma and 20,000 Soviet soldiers. The camp was liberated by the Red Army in January 1945. This year's March of the Living was briefly disrupted by pro-Palestinian protestors who spoke out against what they called Israel's "genocide" in Gaza. (Photo by Wojtek Radwanski / AFP)
