Minnesota State Patrol Todd Winters held a retirement ceremony for Matka, a 9-year-old Hungarian Vizsla who has served with Capitol Security for 8 ½ years as an explosive detection dog, Friday, May 17, 2024, in St. Paul, Minn. Her partner Winters, said she detects explosives during training exercises but has never found any that had been illegally planted in the Capitol complex. Winters said Matka, while still frisky, is starting to show her age and that her duties in retirement will just be as his family pet. She'll turn 10 in July. (AP Photo/Steve Karnowski)
