Aerial view of a private beach in Marina di Pietrasanta, Versilia, Italy. Versilia is an important touristic resort made up of hundreds of private beaches with colored umbrellas and many interesting and historical places to visit. It spreads from cinquale to viareggio mostly and takes its name from Versilia river. The Directive on services in the internal market (commonly referred to as the Bolkestein Directive), has promised to disrupt the automatic renewal of beachside concession and could have a devastating effect on the hundred of enterprises who run the private beaches, called " bagno", and open up competition and increase the size of free beaches that actually account for very small part of the coastline.
