Protestors stand on the Trocadero esplanade in front of the Eiffel on December 8, 2018 in Paris, France, during a protest of "yellow vests" (gilets jaunes) against rising costs of living they blame on high taxes. Paris was on high alert on December 8 with major security measures in place ahead of fresh "yellow vest" protests which authorities fear could turn violent for a second weekend in a row. Police clash on Saturday december 8, 2018 in Paris, France, with protesters staging a fourth weekend of "gilets jaunes," or "yellow vest," demonstrations against the government of President Macron. Officers fired rubber bullets and hundreds of canisters of tear gas at the demonstrators, some of whom had set vehicles on fire. Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said 135 people were wounded in Saturday's protests across France, including 17 police officers. Castaner said 1,385 people were taken in for questioning and 974 were in custody. Two photographers from the newspaper Le Parisien were hit by projectiles. One was taken to hospital as dusk drew near in a city still in shock from last weekend's riots -- the worst to hit the French capital in decades. Photo by Alain Apaydin/ABACAPRESS.COM

The demonstration of the Yellow Vests (Gilets Jaunes) ends with violent clashes between police and protesters. Fires, looting and degrading took place in several streets of the western France city of Bordeaux on December 08, 2018. Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has vowed to 'restore national unity' after violence broke out during a fourth consecutive weekend of protests. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets on Saturday - the latest day of 'yellow vest' demonstrations against fuel tax rises and high living costs. Almost 1,000 people were taken into custody but the violence was not on the same level as a week earlier. Photo by Thibaud Moritz/ABACAPRESS.COM

More than 100 people, including three officers and three press personnel, have been injured during the 'yellow vest' demonstrations in the French capital against fuel rise on 8th December 2018. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets on the protesters during the fourth weekend of protests in France against tax fuel price hikes and high living costs. An estimated 125,000 people took part in marches across France on Saturday, with around 10,000 people demonstrating in the capital where the scenes were the most violent with some demonstrators burning cars, smashing windows and looting shops. Although most of the yellow vests protests have been peaceful, there have been episodes of violence, with ministers arguing that the ???ZSyellow vest???Z movement has been infiltrated by extreme and violent protesters. 8,000 officers were deployed in the French capital as well as 12 armoured vehicles. 08 Dec 2018 Pictured: More than 100 people, including three officers and three press personnel, have been injured during the ???ZSyellow vest???Z demonstrations in the French capital against fuel rise on 8th December 2018.
