04 June 2019, Saxony, Markersbach: The upper basin of the pumped storage power plant Markersbach, in the background the Fichtelberg, taken with a drone. The pumped storage plant was commissioned in 1979 and, with an installed capacity of 1,050 megawatts, is the second largest pumped storage power plant in Germany. The upper basin on the hilltop of the Hundsmarter at about 850 metres above sea level has a reservoir volume of 6.5 million cubic metres of water. These are sufficient for about four hours of power generation. Photo: Jan Woitas/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB
