Protestors were demanding answers, for how the MTR has been shutting down stations, and especially after the August 31st, incident, at Prince Edward Station, in Kowloon, when Riot Police entered the station and without warning or evidence began to assault passengers with batons and pepper spray. While waiting for the station manager, protestors tore apart the turnstiles, broke cameras and the ticket purchasing machines. It was only after a small group of protestors accosted the station manager as he was trying to leave, that the police showed up and a few protestors were arrested, and the rest who were local residents of Po Lam, scattered and went home. As riot police began to arrive at the Hong Kong International Airport to clear our protestors, many of the protestors rushed onto double decker buses to allude arrest, as ordinary citizens, such as the women in the center, who was trying to get on the bus and began to cry as the riot police began to arrive. The protestors began to chant their slogans against police, such as, "Black Police, Return the Eye(a bit of context, they use black as a way to say they are part of the triads, in Chinese, triads are called black societies, as in they are in the shadows) ; Hong Kong Police know the law, yet knowingly break it ; To be a police officer is to be a bastard; Police face your gun and commit suicide." The travelers were forced to walk anywhere from 20 mins to an hour to the airport, because the protestors occupied the highway and prevented any inbound traffic to the airport from going in. The only exit via public transport, the airport express was shutdown, leaving no option for the protestors to get out of the airport area, other than to occupy the highway and begin their march towards the closet train station, at Tung Chung, and closest bus stop to get back to the city, which was over 7 kilometers away. Front line protestors built a large barricade on Hennessy Road in Wan Chai, the makeshift barricades that comprised of plastic water barricades, bleacher stands, plastic road blocks, amongst other things, were then doused with a large amount of oil, which the protestors light with molotov cocktails and produced a large fire.
