These 'Back to the Future' sneakers / trainers are tipped to fetch up to $50,000 USD at auction. The "exceptionally rare" pair of Nike MAGs (the 2011 edition), signed by Michael J. Fox. Fox, 60, starred in the time-travel trilogy and showed off the shoes in the 1989 sequel to the original, Back to the Future Part II. In it his character Marty McFly time travels to the year 2015 and famously turns on his Nike MAGs featuring ?power laces?, that self-tie. They are being sold by Sotheby's in a single lot online auction. The auction house said: "Very few pairs are known to be signed by Michael J. Fox, making this pair an exceptional collector?s item." The movie inspired multiple releases by Nike, including the Nike MAG (2011), Nike MAG (2016) and the Nike Adapt Mag (2019), among others. In 2011, Nike released a promotional video to go alongside the release of 1500 pairs of the 2011 Nike MAG to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson?s Research. The online auction will be held from September 14 - 23 and will go on public view at a Sotheby's pop up in San Francisco. Editorial usage.
